Getting Ready for the Holidays 2018
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
The holiday season is quickly approaching and I am not going to lie, I LOVE this time of year. What I love most about this time of year is being at home with the ones I love. Reflecting on what the year has brought, good and bad- struggles and triumphs. And decorating, of course decorating:) The weeks leading up to the New Year in our home are filled with Christmas movies on replay, nightly fires, game nights, a holiday cocktail or two and always a couple of beautiful meals at home.
This time of year brings warmth to my heart and home. My love for the holidays only makes my job that much more impactful when working with clients on purchasing homes. I can envision them enjoying this special time in their very own home. The firsts of so many things, so many memories, so much love. That is truly one of my biggest rewards in my job. Being able to be a part of something so special is amazing!
And so I say, a house is more than a home. For me it really is. When I work with clients it really is. It is more about how you want to feel, what you want to create, what makes you happy, what experiences are important for you.
For me, owning your own home whether it is a 600 sq ft condo or a 6,000 sq ft home, whether it is your first time home, move up family home, retirement home, they are all special. These phases of life are special. Home is what you make it. Home is where your heart is and such a special gift to be fortunate enough to own your own home.
Whether you are working towards your dream home, living in your dream home or are still working towards that “home”, I hope you can take some time to take in the love of this season. Make your home feel special, whatever that is for you. Surround yourself with people & things that you love.
If you have been someone in the past that has stress this time of year, take a step back. It doesn’t have to be filled with commitments that you are loathing, maxing out credit cards, going into debt. Do the things you love with the people you love. Skip a party or two if you like to kick it fireside in your pj’s. Let people know that you are not doing gifts this year if you don’t want to or can’t (nothing wrong with that!), create experiences that you and your family will remember for years vs all the newest toys and stuff that gets forgotten within a week, donate to a cause that you believe in (I promise that will make you feel the holiday love).
Wishing you and your family the best holiday season with love and happiness.
Some of my favorite things in the area to do this time of year:
1. Walk through the shops downtown Middleton. I love seeing all of the decorations and holiday displays!
2. Picking out our Christmas tree with my family
3. Riding the holiday trolly to see the tree at the Capitol
4. Going to the downtown Middleton tree lighting ceremony!
